When switched on Remember and Repeat replicates the standard classroom spelling strategy Read Cover Write Check. A student types a word, it disappears, and they immediately type it again from memory, benefiting from the extra repetition.
When Remember and Repeat is switched on, an icon (RR) will appear on the keyboard screen. This feature can be helpful when a student reaches words they find particularly difficult to spell.
Note: By default, this setting is turned off, as Remember and Repeat is generally not recommended for learners with dyslexia. Asking learners to recall and retype a word from memory increases the memory demands of the activity and may make spelling more challenging. The standard TTRS multi-sensory approach, where the word remains visible while typing, is generally more appropriate for dyslexic learners and supports accurate learning without placing unnecessary strain on working memory.
How to turn Remember and Repeat on or off
From an Education admin/teacher account (individual student)
Sign in to your admin or teacher account.
Open the Students tab.
Select the student you want to update.
Open the Actions dropdown from the student page and click Settings.
Open the Typing Settings tab.
Turn the Remember and Repeat on or off.
Click Apply changes to confirm your action.
For a class or group of students (Education accounts only)
Open the Settings tab from your admin or teacher dashboard.
Select the preset you want to edit.
Open the Typing Settings tab.
Turn Remember and Repeat on or off.
Click Save changes and then choose from the dropdown options to save your changes.
From a parent account (home users and homeschoolers)
Open the Settings tab from your admin dashboard.
Select the student from the list.
Open the Actions dropdown from the student page and click Settings.
Open the Typing Settings tab.
Turn the Remember and Repeat On or Off.
Click Apply changes to confirm your action.
From a student account
Sign in to the student account.
Open the Settings tab and select Audio and Typing.
Find the Remember and Repeat setting.
Turn the setting On or Off.
Click Save to apply the changes.
