Resolving technical issues

Try these quick troubleshooting steps to resolve technical issues when using TTRS

Written by Harry Alexandre

Before you begin
If you are unable to access TTRS, first check this page to see if there's a known platform outage or scheduled maintenance. If all services are operational, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.

Quick troubleshooting steps

Reload your browser

If parts of the program appear to be missing or aren't working as expected, for example, the Show Word icon isn't visible during a dictation module, try reloading the page by pressing:

  • Windows: Ctrl + R

  • Mac: Command (⌘) + R

Note: Reloading the page will restart the student's current module.

Spacebar or keyboard isn't working

If your spacebar or other keys aren't responding in TTRS but work normally in other applications, try the following:

Windows

  • Click anywhere inside the TTRS module to make sure the typing window is active.

  • Press Ctrl + R to reload the page (this will restart the current module).

  • Try opening TTRS in a different browser, such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

  • Clear your browser's cache and reload the page.

  • If you're using browser extensions (such as ad blockers or keyboard remappers), try disabling them temporarily.

  • Restart your browser or computer and try again.

Mac

If certain keys stop working only while using TTRS, check your accessibility settings:

  • Open System Settings.

  • Select Accessibility > Keyboard.

  • Make sure Full Keyboard Access is turned Off.

If the issue continues, reload the page or try a different browser.

Chrome errors or unexpected behavior

If you're experiencing issues while using TTRS in Google Chrome, such as pages not loading correctly or unexpected errors, the problem may be caused by a browser extension or other software installed on your computer.

Try the following:

  • Open TTRS in a different browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, to see if the issue persists.

  • Disable your Chrome extensions temporarily, then reload TTRS.

  • Re-enable your extensions one at a time to identify whether a specific extension is causing the problem.

Tip: If TTRS works correctly in another browser, the issue is likely related to your Chrome browser or one of its installed extensions.

Try a different browser

TTRS works with all major web browsers, but if you're experiencing issues, try switching to a different browser.

For the best performance, speed, and audio quality, we recommend using Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

If the problem persists, clearing your browser's cache may also help.

Unlocking levels

If a student can't continue because of a technical issue, you can temporarily unlock all course levels.

  • From your admin or teacher console, select Students.

  • Open the student's profile.

  • Under Levels, change the setting to Unlock all levels. The student will then be able to access any module in the Main Course.

Sound issues

We have a separate help article for resolving sound issues.
