TTRS provides an option to adjust or remove the on-screen hand guides that help beginners learn how to place their fingers correctly on the keyboard.
While some users prefer to remove the hands entirely after Level 3, you can also customize the hand guides to suit your learning style or teaching approach.
Advantages of adjusting hand guides
Focus attention on the keys rather than the hands.
Reduce distractions for more advanced learners.
Gradually build confidence in typing without relying on visual guides.
Allow teachers to adjust the interface for individual students’ needs.
How to change the hand guides in settings
Go to the Settings page and select Typing settings.
Locate the Hand guides dropdown menu.
Choose the option that works best for you or your students:
Moving hands and letters – Default option showing both hands and letters.
Moving hands but no letters – Hands move, but letters are not highlighted.
Just a keyboard – Shows only the keyboard, no hand guides.
Blank, half – Partial hand guides removed.
Blank, full – Completely hides hand guides.
