TTRS includes an optional one-handed typing mode designed for learners who may need to type using only one hand. When enabled, the course adapts the typing experience so students can complete lessons using either their left hand or right hand.

This setting can only be managed by parents, teachers, or school administrators and cannot be changed in a student’s personal settings.

How to Enable One-Handed Typing

  • From your dashboard, click the Students menu.

  • Select the student from the list.

  • From the student’s profile, click the Actions menu and select Settings.

  • Click Typing settings, and enable one-hand typing instruction.

  • Select whether they will be using their left or right hand.

  • Click Apply changes to confirm.

What happens when one-handed typing is enabled?

  • The course adjusts to support typing with a single hand.

  • Students continue progressing through the course using the adapted layout.

Why Practice Left-Hand and Right-Hand Typing

Practicing with either hand can provide several benefits:

  • Accessibility: Supports learners with injuries, mobility challenges, or physical differences that make two-handed typing difficult.

  • Flexibility: Students can continue practicing even if one hand is temporarily unavailable.

  • Skill development: Strengthens coordination and familiarity with keyboard layout using the available hand.

  • Confidence: Helps learners build independence and maintain progress in the course.
