What are typing screen themes
Typing screen themes are background screens students can unlock as they complete modules in the main course. Themes are hidden behind random typing and dictation modules throughout the first four levels and are unlocked after a module has been completed.
Once your student has unlocked a theme, it will become available for them to select under the Appearance tab in their Settings. They can choose to use the new background and letter shades that go with a theme or to apply their existing text settings.
Note, all student accounts come with two default themes in addition to the traditional desk theme.
Turning typing screen themes on and off
From your TTRS Admin account, visit Settings and select the Students tab to enable or disable typing screen themes for your students. Note, typing screen themes are automatically enabled for all student accounts.
If you have multiple students and would like to choose a different setting for one or more of your learners you can visit their individual profiles under the Students tab and use the dropdown Actions menu to enable or disable typing screen themes.
Unlocking a typing theme
Unlocking a typing theme can only happen through completion of main course modules. Themes are hidden behind different modules throughout the first three levels and unlocked at random.
Selecting a typing theme from a student account
When your student has unlocked a new typing screen theme it will become available to them under the Appearance tab of their Settings.
Students can select the background theme they wish to apply using the dropdown menu and decide to either use the text and background shades that go with the new theme, or maintain their original settings.
Original text settings can be selected by ticking the Screen settings box. Users can check the preview module screen to make any further adjustments and ensure optimal readability when typing.
Before leaving the settings tab, select Apply changes to ensure the new settings configuration is applied to future module screens.
Troubleshooting typing screen themes
If your student has skipped ahead in the course or already progressed beyond the fourth level but would still like to unlock new typing themes, you can have them revisit and retake particular modules in levels 1-4.
