Starting a new typing routine can be overwhelming, but using a clear checklist ensures you focus on the most important skills. This guide highlights key actions, settings, and strategies to reinforce correct typing and spelling habits while keeping learning effective and motivating.



✅ Key Steps to Follow

  • Reinforce the basics of the correct home key position with “GH” – Good Hands in the middle.

  • Use one finger at a time and return it to the home key before moving the next

  • Read each word aloud as you type to strengthen phonemic awareness

  • Know where to enter your username and password, and remember the course will pick up where you left off

  • Know the three bars on the screen (Progress and % Score)

  • Make sure no modules are skipped and learn how to go back if needed

  • Check settings settings to adjust challenge levels as you progress

  • Regularly check level assessment results to keep an eye on spelling progress

  • Correct mistakes as you go to reinforce learning

  • Remove screen hands after Level 3 (or later, if you feel ready)

  • Try features like “Remember & Repeat” to help with spelling retention

  • Remember: press 2 to repeat a word and 5 to show words on screen during dictation modules

  • Stop before you get too tired, even if that means ending a session early
