CHECK LIST
Reinforce, where necessary, the basics of the correct home key position with "GH" -"Good Hands" in the middle.
Reinforce when necessary, correct finger usage - one finger at a time β return a finger to the home key before moving another.
Read the words aloud as you type to reinforce phonemic awareness.
Understand where to put their login username and password for the next session, and understand that the course will remember their progress point.
Know the three bars on the screen (Progress and % Score).
Make sure that no modules are missed and that you know how to go back manually.
Once the course is underway, check the settings and how they can be adjusted to alter the challenge level/
Regularly check your student's level assessment performance to check on spelling progress.
Always correct mistakes as they go along.
Remove the screen and have hands away after reaching level three (or later if appropriate to their progress and motivation).
If your student's spelling level is above Level 3 and they can touch-type, consider unlocking their levels so they can move around in the course.
Have them try out different settings, like βRemember and Repeat,β which can help with spelling.
Remind them they can press number 2 on the keyboard to repeat the current word in any module and number 5 to show the words on screen for a dictation module.
Have them stop typing before they become too tired, even if this means finishing the session earlier than anticipated.
