Module stars encourage users to repeat a module until they achieve 100% accuracy.
This is not always necessary or helpful for some learners, so if you would like to turn stars off, instructions on how to do so are provided at the end of this article.
Module star values
Module stars are calculated as follows:
⭐️⭐️⭐️ = 100% perfect accuracy score
⭐️⭐️ = a score of 90% and above
⭐️ = a pass mark (the default is set to 80%)
The stars a user has earned for each module are visible from their account, and for parents and teachers, from inside an administrator account.
Viewing a student's module stars
To view the stars earned by a student, visit their student page, select TTRS Course, and select a level.
When a user completes a module, stars earned are displayed next to their score if they have "Show accuracy score in module completion window" enabled. Note, this setting is automatically enabled in the Default by TTRS preset.
A student can view their total earned star count under their name from inside their My stats page. This figure includes stars earned both from Main course and Subject modules.
To view the total star count for Main course modules only, open the My stats --> Achievements tab from inside a student account.
Note, this Achievements tab will only be visible if a Student has the "Show level trophies on a student's page" setting toggled on under their settings.
Turning off module stars
Some users may prefer to use TTRS without this gamified approach. Stars can easily be turned off under the General tab of any Settings preset by toggling off the "Show accuracy score in module completion window" setting.
To turn off stars and accuracy score for individual students:
When logged in as the administrator, visit the Students tab, select your student and use the Actions dropdown menu to select Settings.
Select "Show accuracy score in module completion window" from the General settings tab.
Toggle this setting off and select Apply changes to save this change to your student's account.
When stars are turned off, green or orange tick marks will be shown instead.
